Apple late Thursday seeded the fourth OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks beta to developers with a few changes and continued focus on Mail, Messages and VPN services.

The release comes a week after the third OS X 10.9.2 beta, build 13C44, and a little over a month after the first OS X 10.9.2 beta.

According to the accompanying release notes, the company is still focusing on Mail and Messages, two built-in features that have caused problems for a number of users since Mavericks first debuted in October. Their complaints were related to Gmail compatibility issues and erratic Smart Mailbox behavior.

Additionally, Apple asks developers to test server message block (SMB2), graphics drivers, VoiceOver and VPN services. Apple switched from AFP file sharing to SMB2 with Mavericks, attempting to improve performance, security and cross-platform compatibility. With the earlier betas of OS X 10.9.2, Mac users were allowed to block people on iMessage and FaceTime, as can be done in iOS 7, and also introduced FaceTime Audio.

The previous build was labeled 13C44, so this new build is only a few builds newer, meaning Apple is nearing a public release.

The new build is available to registered Mac developers through the Software Update tab in the Mac App Store, or as a full download via the Mac section of Apple’s online developer portal.
